Vikings Draw with Petrels

MOUNT BERRY, Ga.,-- The Vikings wrapped up their regular season home slate with a hard-fought 0–0 draw against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels on Saturday afternoon, their final match before heading to Georgetown, Texas for the upcoming Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Conference Tournament.

Junior goalkeeper Cooper Cherry anchored the Vikings' defense, denying every scoring opportunity the Petrels could muster. His composure and command inside the box led to a clean sheet.

On the offensive end, freshman Parker Pollay provided a spark on the right flank, using his pace and physicality to generate several promising chances throughout the match. Though the Vikings were unable to find the finishing touch, Pollay's efforts were instrumental in keeping Oglethorpe's defense under pressure, particularly in the second half.

Defensively, sophomore Jaxon Champ stood tall across all 90 minutes. Champ consistently disrupted Oglethorpe's attacking rhythm and won key challenges to keep the match level. His consistency and intensity were crucial in maintaining the shutout.

Though neither side was able to break through, the Vikings' grit and discipline were on full display.

With the regular season now complete, the team turns its focus to the SAA Tournament in Texas, where a potential rematch with the Stormy Petrels could be on the horizon.
