ROANOKE, Va. — The Berry College men's and women's track & field teams finished fourth in a highly competitive Noke Elite Meet on Saturday.
"We had some good momentum early with our relays," head coach Luke Syverson said. "It was a good team effort overall against some regionally ranked programs."
Standouts include Berry's women's 4x200m relay team set the indoor program record in a strong showing. Alexandria Kinney and Leighan Williams also scored, making the finals in the women's 60m. Genesis Leggett continued a strong indoor campaign with wins in the shot put and weight toss. Denae Rivera backed her up finishing second in the weight throw with a personal record. Meredith Herman also finished top-five in the women's 3,000m. Finally, Kya Wiggins took second in the 400m with a time ranking second all-time for Berry.
On the men's side, Kelvin Wilson claimed second in the 60m dash in standout fashion. Roth Wilcox finished third in the 60m hurdles, just short of the program record. Tucker Smith and Mitchell Brice went 2-4 in the men's pole vault as well. Jared Ogle and Jed Woodward scored in the men's shot put with Ogle claiming a PR. Finally, Cam Mallett earned a third place finish in the 5,000m with a PR.
Berry has some time off before taking a minimum squad to the USC Indoor Open in Columbia, S.C. on Feb. 22.
