BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Berry College track & field teams sent a small squad to open the indoor season at the 2019 Birmingham-Southern Indoor Icebreaker on Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex, competing against teams from the NAIA and all three divisions of the NCAA.
Several Vikings, including a pair of freshmen, started the season on a high note. Kya Wiggins and Roth Wilcox both set indoor school record in their first collegiate competition. Wiggins claimed first in her heat of the 400m with a record time of 1:01.45. Wilcox took second in his heat of the 60H with a time of 8.65.
Also on the men's side, Mitchell Brice took fourth in the pole vault with an indoor personal record (PR). Jed Woodward took seventh overall in the shot put. Parker Roberts took second in his heat of the 3,000m to round out the men's standouts. Alyssa Fowler took second in her heat of the 3,000m with a time trial time of 10:49.30.
Berry's next indoor meet is set for Jan. 19 at the Emory Indoor Invite back at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
