Men's Tennis Tops Roanoke 8-1 for First Win of the Season

ROME, Ga. - The Berry College men's tennis team bested Roanoke 8-1 in their first home match of the year on Thursday afternoon.
 
All three Vikings double teams started the match with wins for Berry. Chase Gooding and Rory Glatt earned a win in the No. 1 Doubles spot, 9-8 (5). Ryan Miner and Jordan Crance finished ahead in the second flight of doubles, 8-3, and Matt Johnson and Clay Jones finished with an 8-2 win in the No. 3 Doubles spot. 
 
Gooding (6-3, 6-1), Crance (6-0, 6-1), Glatt (6-0, 6-7, 1), Johnson (6-4, 6-1) and Jonas Frank (6-3, 6-0) rounded out the competition with singles' victories as well, ensuring the 6-1 win.
 
On the year, the men's tennis team is now 1-1 overall, as the Vikings head to Hilton Head, S. C., to take on Cornell College in their first matchup at the Hilton Head Tournament on Sunday, March 11 at 11:45 a.m.
