MACON, Ga. - Both the men's and women's tennis teams opened the season falling to NCAA Division I Mercer University 7-0 on Saturday.
WOMEN'S TEAM RESULTS:
- The freshman duo of Sara Myers and Kathryn Barker fell 6-1 at No. 1 doubles
- Sarah Murray/Sydney Stone and Karleigh Dills/Alexis Williams both fell 6-0 at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
- At No. 1 singles, Myers fell 6-0, 6-0. Barker was bested 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 flight.
- Sarah Murray was topped 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Sydney Stone went 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4.
- Dills filled the No. 5 slot, dropping the match 6-0, 6-0. Alexis Williams fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
MEN'S TEAM RESULTS:
- Matthew Blakely and Chase Gooding opened the season at No. 1 doubles, just falling 6-4.
- Ryan Miner and Jordan Crance made up the No. 2 doubles spot, falling 6-3 while Matt Johnson and Clay Jones fell 6-0 at the No. 3 spot
- For singles, Blakely was topped 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 1 slot while Ryan Miner fell 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot.
- No. 3 Chase Gooding (6-1, 6-1), No. 4 Jordan Crance (6-1, 6-1), No. 5 Matt Johnson (6-1, 6-1) and No. 6 Clay Jones (6-1, 6-2) were bested in the outing.
