ORLANDO, Fla. – The Berry College men's and women's tennis teams split with McMurry University on Thursday in Florida. The men's team defeated McMurry 7-2, while the women fell 2-7.
MEN'S TEAM RESULTS:
- Berry's No. 1-Doubles team of Matthew Blakely and Griffin Davis defeated McMurry's Carlos Martinez and Andrew Hallowell 8-4.
- Ryan Miner and Chase Gooding also added an 8-5 victory in the No. 2-Doubles spot.
- Davis (6-2, 6-4), Miner (6-0, 6-2), Gooding (6-2, 6-0), Jordan Crance (6-0, 6-1) and Daniel Alligood (6-1, 6-0) ensured the win with a singles victory apiece on Thursday.
WOMEN'S TEAM RESULTS:
- All three Vikings doubles teams fell to McMurry in the matchup.
- Mary Cerny and Lauren Byrket added the only victories for the Vikings on the day, in the No.1 and No. 2 Singles spots, respectively.
- Cerny defeated Chloe Patterson 6-0 and 6-3, and Byrket bested Bree Brosing 6-2, 6-2.
NOTABLES:
- With the win, the men's team improves to 5-2 overall, extending their winning streak to four straight matches.
- With the loss, the women's team falls to 4-3 overall.

Berry's men's team will round out play in Florida with a match against Dickinson today at 1:00 p.m. The women will take on Oglethorpe for their first conference matchup of the season on Sunday, March 19 at 12:00 p.m.
