Women's Basketball Defeats Rivier, 74-51

TRUJILLO ALTO, Puerto Rico – Alex Weems added a double-double as the Berry College women's basketball team defeated Rivier College, 74-51, on Wednesday afternoon to open Puerto Rico play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Weems led both the Vikings' offense and defense, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
  • Berry scored at least 20 points in each of the final three quarters.
  • The Vikings also outshot Rivier, 42-percent (29-of-69) to 29.8-percent (17-of-57).
  • Berry led the game in three-pointers (8-2), rebounds (57-34) and assists (9-2).

BERRY STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Weems: 17 points, 12 rebounds, 7-of-15 FGM, 3-for-7 FTM
  • Kristin Rampersad: 15 points, 5-for-10 FGM, 4-for-8 3PM
  • Christine Cerezola: 8 points, 4-for-9 FGM, 4 rebounds
  • Ashely McKee: 6 points, 2-for-2 FGM, 2-for-2 3M, 3 assists

RIVIER STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Kaylee Kacavas: 16 points, 6-for-14 FGM, 2-for4 3PM, 4 rebounds
  • Savanna Butterfield: 8 points, 12 rebounds, 4-for-12 FGM, 4 STL
  • Megan Hamel: 8 points, 6-for-9 FTM, 5 rebounds

NOTABLES:

  • The Vikings improve to 6-5 overall.
  • Weems continues to lead the Southern Athletic Association in rebounds on the year, with 96.
  • Rampersad also sits at fifth in the SAA in points per game, with 12.9.

Berry will continue play in Puerto Rice tomorrow against Rowan. Game time is set for 2:00pm.
