MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Vikings' head men's basketball coach, Jeff Rogers, earned his 100th career victory as the Berry College men's basketball team defeated Huntingdon College, 68-62, to open their season on Tuesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Vikings were ahead, 37-32, at the end of the first half.
- Berry then held off Huntingdon, 31-30, in the final period of play to take home the, 68-62, victory.
- The matchup saw 10 lead changes, as well as 12 ties throughout the game.
- The Vikings led the game in rebounds (43-40), while the Hawks led the game in assists (13-7) and steals (14-10).
- Each team added six blocks, and Berry shot 32.7-percent to Huntingdon's 36.1-percent.

- Caleb Johnson: 31 points, 7-for-18 FG, 1 3FG, 16-for-23 FT, 7 rebounds, 5 steals
- Blake Jones: 14 points, 3-for-5 FG, 7-for-7 FT, 3 3FG, 6 rebounds
- Alton McCloud: 9 points, 2-for-8 FG, 2 3FG, 8 rebounds
HUNTINGDON STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:
- Andre Ashley: 22 points, 7-for-14 FG, 8-for-9 FT, 11 rebounds
- Brandon McLean: 8 points, 3-for-7 FG, 5 rebounds, 4 steals
NOTABLES:
- The win was the first season-opening victory for the Vikings since the 2012-13 campaign.
- In early season play last year, Berry fell to the Hawks, 73-71.

Berry will travel to Crestview Hills, Ky., to take on Berea College in the Coach Jim Connor Classic on Friday, Nov. 18. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
