BC Women's Basketball Handles Sewanee, 76-68

ROME, Ga.- Sophomores Imani Smith and Megan Casey both posted career-high points as Berry College took down Sewanee, 76-68, on Sunday.

Smith tallied 22 points and Casey added 18 for the Vikings. Smith shot 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Casey shot 7-of-10 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds.

Berry--which snapped a six-game losing skid--improved to 8-11 and 2-6 in Southern Athletic Association play. Sewanee fell to 11-8 and 3-5 in conference. 

Zarriah Pierce and Peyton Howell led the Vikings bench with 12 points and 11 points. The Vikings' bench outscored the Tigers' bench, 27-14.

Berry led at halftime, 39-35. BC led by as many as seven points during the first half. Imani Smith and Casey led the Vikings with 11 points each. Bella Taylor led Sewanee with 14 points at the break.

The Tigers' Taylor scored a game-high 30 points. She shot 10-of-17 from the field and 10-of-11 at the free-throw line. 

Berry shot 48.1-percent (26-54) to Sewanee's 40.3-percent (25-62). The Vikings also led the game in rebounds, 42-31. The Tigers led in free-throw accuracy (12-of-13 to 16-for-29).

"We played a good game today," said Berry He'd Coach Stpehanie Dunn. "We have been playing well lately, but the difference tonight was we shot the ball well, too."

BC will host Hendrix in their next SAA matchup on Friday, February 5. Game time is set for 6 p.m. in the Cage Center
