Men's Soccer Draws with W&L in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D. C. - - Freshman Jake Doiron recorded 13 saves as the Berry College men's soccer team tied with Washington and Lee University, 0-0, on Friday afternoon. 

The double overtime tie moved both the Vikings and the Generals to 1-0-1 overall.

Playing 110 minutes, include two ten-minute overtime periods, the BC defense kept the Vikings in the game as Washington and Lee outshot Berry, 28-7.

The Generals had ten corner kicks to Berry's one.

For the Vikes, Steven Moore and Britton Ody each had a shot on goal in the draw.

Gillen Beck posted two saves for Washington and Lee in the goal. David Cohen and Andrew Kim led the Generals' offense with four shots on goal apiece.

"We had a great defensive performance today against a strong team," said Berry Head Coach Richard Vardy. "We had a couple of chances to win, but struggled on offense. Jake Doiron had a great first collegiate start in goal."

BC will take on tournament host Catholic tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in Washington, D.C..
