Vikes Overtake Huntingdon, 3-1

ROME, Ga. - - With goals from Daniel Shaw, Steven Moore and Anu Campbell, the Berry College men's soccer team defeated Huntingdon College, 3-1, on Tuesday afternoon. 0

The non-conference win improved the Vikings to 6-6-2, while the loss dropped the Hawks to 2-9-2.

Huntingdon tallied first with a goal from Brendon Van Emelen in the twenty-first minute. Nick Stinson earned the assist on the play. 

Berry then rebounded, scoring two goals before the end of the first half.

Daniel Shaw evened the score at one apiece in the forty-first minute. Shaw received the ball from Caleb Ford, turning and finding the upper left corner of the net from 20-yards out. 

Steven Moore then put the Vikings ahead in the forty-second minute. Moore dribbled the ball past the Hawks' defenders and found himself one-on-one with the goalie before scoring the unassisted tally. 

The Vikes led, 2-1, going into halftime.

Berry then sealed the victory with the final goal of the game in the eighty-second minute. Connor Garrett tapped the ball behind him to Anu Campbell who sailed the ball into the goal above the goalkeeper's head, finishing the game with BC ahead, 3-1.

The Vikes led the contest in shots (20-9) and corner kicks (6-3). 

Dominique Thomas took the loss in goal for Huntingdon, collecting nine saves in the loss. 

Jake Doiron started the game in goal for the Vikes, adding two saves and allowing one goal in the win. Carson Oakes finished the remaining eight minutes in goal for BC.Berry will travel to

Sewanee, Tennessee, to take on Sewanee in their next SAA match-up on Friday, Oct. 23 at 8:30p.m.
