Last year's game: The Vikings defeated the Panthers JV team, 37-27, for the first victory in program history last year. Adam Sandin led Berry's passing attack by going 9-15 with 111 yards and two touchdowns. Trevor Price had nine carries and 63 yards. Chris Lilly led the wide receivers with 4 catches and 85 yards along with two touchdowns. Three players on the defense for BC tied with six tackles. Drew McCollum and Matt Farinella had five solo tackles with one sack. Berry allowed 365 yards passing but held the Panther's rushing attack to minus-16 yards.
Berry Outlook: Berry traveled to Maryville and was pinned with the first loss of the season. Chris Lilly caught five passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Matt Farinella led the defense with 14 total tackles, including nine solo stops. Josh Bullock played a big role by catching four passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Dale Jackson finished 18-33 with 276 yards and two touchdowns. BC lost control of the ball four times with three interceptions and one fumble lost.
LaGrange Outlook: LaGrange took Birmingham-Southern to overtime and won 34-28. LC quarterback Graham Craig finished 36-47 with 361 yards along with four touchdowns and one interception. Griffin Roelle led the receivers in the game with 11 catches for 160 yards to average 14.5 yards a catch. He scored two touchdowns in the game. Ervens Oge helped with seven catches with 82 yards and a touchdown. Lagrange fumbled the ball three times along with one interception, and the offensive line gave up three sacks in the game. On the defense, Larry Murdock totaled 22 total tackles with 14 solo tackles. Nick Raszeja helped with 11 total tackles. Roelle and Murdock were honored for USA South Players of the Week.
This week's fast fact: Berry College football has the fifth toughest schedule in NCAA Division III. According to D3Football.com, the Vikings' have an opponent winning percentage from 2013 of .6087.
