ROME, Ga. -- Christian Fulbright scored the game's only goal in the 42nd minute as Berry College defeated Ramapo, 1-0, on Saturday. Zak Wallingford earned the assist on the scoring play.

Berry has yet to lose a game--or allow a goal--and is now 3-0. Ramapo dropped to 3-1.

"It's a real positive that we haven't given up a goal yet and a tribute to our defense," said Berry Head Coach Richard Vardy. "We have injuries and a short bench, so it was great to fight through adversity and get the win."

The Vikings led in shots, 14-12. Ramapo, however, outshot Berry in the second half (8-6).

The Roadrunners put pressure on to tie the match, but Jon Nelson had four saves and earned his third straight shutout for Berry. Ramapo's Matthew Hernandez stopped seven BC shots.

Wallingford nearly put Berry ahead 2-0, but Hernandez stopped a hard shot--and then stopped it again--as the ball nearly crossed the goal line in the 87th minute.

"Tomorrow, we'll want to play with a tight defense against a tough team in Ohio Northern," said Vardy. "The important thing now will be rest and recovery after a hot game."

The Vikings play Ohio Northern on Sunday at 2 p.m. A women's contest--Berry vs. Trinity (Texas)--takes place at noon. At 4 p.m., Ramapo and Emory close out the Berry Men's Soccer Invitational.
