Box Score

ROME, Ga. -- Berry College lost at Covenant College, 2-0, on Tuesday night. The Vikings dropped to 4-3 and the Scots improved to 6-1.

The home team got on the scoreboard in the tenth minute. After a CC corner kick, Joel Friesen left-footed the ball past the goal line. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.

Covenant led in shots, 15-10. Berry, however, had the edge in corners, 5-4.

BC had plenty of scoring chances, but could not score. Zak Wallingford had a team-high three shots for the Vikings.

In the 89th minute, Ian Meredith blasted a shot which deflected off the far post and got past Viking goalkeeper Jon Nelson, who collected three saves in the contest.

"Tonight was a good game against a good team," said Berry Head Coach Richard Vardy. "We worked hard and kept fighting for 90 minutes, but the ball did not bounce our way tonight."

The Vikings play at Greensboro (N.C.) College on Friday afternoon.
