St. Olaf hands men's soccer first defeat, 3-1

Box Score

Sewanee, Tenn. – Evan Echols tallied an unassisted goal in the 31st minute, but Berry College lost to St. Olaf, 3-1, on Saturday. Echols' goal tied the score at 1-1, but the Oles scored two second half goals for the final margin.

The Vikings dropped to 2-1 and St. Olaf improved to 2-0.

Berry led in corner kicks (5-4) but trailed in shots (13-11). Logan Hill stopped six shots and took the defeat (2-1).

"We played okay against a good team," said Berry Head Coach Richard Vardy. "We gave away a bad goal in the first minute of each half which really killed us on a small field. We then were forced to chase the game."

Mackenzie Lund netted a goal and an assist for St. Olaf.

Berry plays Ozarks (Ark.) at 11 a.m. on Sunday to close out play at the Sewanee Tournament.
