Box Score ADA -- The Number 8 Ohio Northern men's soccer team remained undefeated for the 2013 season, with a 3-1 victory over Berry College on Saturday afternoon. Grant Cooksey scored for BC.
The Polar Bears improved to 6-0 on the season, while the Vikings fell to 2-3-1. Berry led ONU in shots 13-10.
"After a tough week I was very happy with our performance," said Head Coach Richard Vardy. "We played well and for long spells we were the better team. Northern were deep and clinical with their finishing and put away their chances. This will be a game we will learn and take a lot of positives from."
Ohio Northern struck first in the 22nd minute, when junior Zach Myers sent a ball in the box that freshman Dustin Lorenzo put in the net for his first goal of the season.
Berry, however, answered back just before the half and tied the game on Cooksey's tally. Zak Wallingford earned the assist on the scoring play. He sent a cross into the box that Cooksey directed to the lower left.
The score remained 1-1 at the break. Berry led in shots, 8-7, at halftime.
Matt Kinkopf put ONU back on top 2-1, at the 61:36 mark. David Janusz added an insurance goal in the 76th minute.
Logan Hill (2-3-1) made two stops on the afternoon for Berry. Evan Bader made three saves and moved to 6-0 on the year for the home team.
It doesn't get any easier for the Vikings: they play at #4 Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday.
