Box Score CONWAY, Ark. -- The Berry College women's basketball team lost at Hendrix College, 68-66, on Sunday afternoon. Berry dropped to 10-12 and 5-7 in the Southern Athletic Association.
Chanlir Segarra tallied a team-high 18 points for the visitors. Tara Mullinax and Megan Walsh both recorded double-doubles in the contest. Mullinax had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Walsh added 15 points and 12 boards.
Hendrix improved to 3-20 and 3-9 in the SAA. Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler scored a game-best 19 points for the Warriors. Teammate Jamie Tate had 18 points and 19 rebounds for the home team.
The Vikings trailed 31-28 at halftime. The visitors, however, went on an 8-4 run to begin the second half. Berry led most of the way, and after a Segarra layup, held a 55-46 lead with 7:37 remaining.
Yet the Warriors rallied in the closing minutes. Tate made two free throws to give Hendrix the lead--for good--at 65-64 with 1:04 left. Kriesel-Bigler added two more from the charity stripe before Walsh made BC's last bucket to make it 67-66 with three seconds remaining.
Tate then made the first of two free throws for the game's final point. Her second shot missed, but Berry could not get off a shot before time expired.
"The team accepted the challenges I gave after the last two games, and played tough," said Viking Head Coach Stephanie Dunn. "Our top offensive player took the game-tying shot, but it did not fall today."
The Vikings return to action on Tuesday night when Oakwood visits the Cage Center for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
