Shenandoah defeats men in Daytona, 60-52

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Hunter Smoak tallied a career-high 21 points but Berry College lost to Shenandoah, 60-52, on Thursday night. Smoak was 6-14 shooting, made two 3-pointers and converted all seven of his free throws in the contest.

Owen Jacobs scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Lake Graham notched 12 points and a game-best 14 rebounds. BC out-rebounded SU, 48-40.

The Vikings trailed 30-23 at halftime. Shenandoah led the rest of the way. Smoak nailed a 3-pointer with 1:42 remaining to make the score 54-49, but BC got no closer.

The Hornets held the Vikings to a season-lows of 52 points and 28-percent shooting (17-59).

The loss was the fifth straight for Berry, which dropped to 3-6 on the season. Shenandoah improved to 5-3.

Avery Green contributed 18 points and four steals to pace SU.

The Vikings play Gettysburg on Friday at 6 p.m. to close out play at the Daytona Shootout.
