Box Score SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Chanlir Segarra recorded a game-high 19 points, but Berry College lost at UC Santa Cruz, 87-63, on Tuesday.
Berry dropped to 4-4 and UCSC improved to 6-4.
Segarra was 6-8 from the field, made 1-1 from beyond the arc and converted all six of her free throw attempts. Mel McLean notched 15 points and pulled in a seven rebounds for the visitors. Freshman Emma Cook also had 10 boards for the Vikings.
The Banana Slugs held a 35-28 lead at halftime. For the game, UCSC out-shot Berry 43-percent (30-70) to 33-percent (19-57). The Slugs also led in rebounds, 54-38.
Sarah Mackey paced the home team with 16 points.
The Vikings play Willamette (Ore.) tomorrow on the UC Santa Cruz campus. Game time is 4 p.m.
