By Connor Garrett for Berryvikings.com

ROME, Ga. –David Shaw scored in the 62nd minute to lift Berry College to a 3-2 win over Reinhardt on Tuesday afternoon.

Berry improved to 4-4-1. Reinhardt dropped to 4-5.

Caleb Lucas scored the first goal unassisted in the 26th minute, putting Berry up 1-0.  Jansen Berry of Reinhardt responded with a goal off a low cross in the 35th minute of play. The score remained 1-1 at the break.

In the second minute of the second half, Lucas earned a free kick outside the box. Samer Hajmurad took the kick and connected with Josh Fancher on a header to put the Vikings up 2-1.

In the 62nd-minute Jansen Berry answered the call again, tying up the game 2-2. Six minutes later Zak Wallingford dashed up the field with the ball and assisted Shaw on a break-away  game-winning goal.

"There were three defenders, so we just tried to use our speed to negate the numerical advantage," Shaw said. "Zak played a great ball, and I took a calculated touch to draw the keeper out and play it around him back post.

The Vikings had twenty shots to Reinhardt's eleven. Viking goalkeeper Logan Hill made three saves and let two goals and earned the win. Reinhardt keeper Matthew Amis made seven saves and allowed three goals in the loss.

The Vikings next game is Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against Centre at the Ford Field.

"Centre College could be the best team we face all year," said Head Coach Richard Vardy. "We've won two straight games, are healthy and playing pretty well. It's Mountain Day so hopefully we'll have a good crowd and good weather."
