Berry College guard Mac Whalen scored a team high 16 points, but Rust College defeated the Vikings 83-58 Saturday in a men's basketball game in Holly Springs, Miss.

Whalen was joined in double figures by Lake Graham, who scored 15 points and hauled down 13 rebounds.

Rust led 37-26 at halftime, and Berry stayed within about 10 points until there were about 14 minutes remaining in the game, but Rust put together a run to pull away from the Vikings and never looked back, according to Berry coach Jeff Haarlow.

Still, Haarlow saw some bright spots in the loss.

"It was good to see Mac and Kyle (Wilson) make some shots from the arc today, and it was good to see Lake respond with a double-double," Haarlow said.  "Lake played really well today." 

Markeith Wilson led Rust with 22 points and eight rebounds.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Tuesday at Piedmont.
