Box Score Michael Emanuelo scored three goals for Berry's men's lacrosse team Friday, but Catholic University defeated the Vikings 14-7 in Norcross.
"We were really proud of our guys' efforts today," Berry head coach Chris Delfausse said of his and assistant coach Zach Nedbalski's reaction to their team's play. "While you're always disappointed to lose, it was good to see our team put forth a great effort against a quality team that consistently is in the hunt for a national tournament berth."
Berry scored the game's first goal before Catholic went on a run to open a 6-2 halftime lead.
"That's the third consecutive game in which we've been close with a good team at halftime," Delfausse said. "Our young guys are learning and continuing to get better every day."
Berry would pull closer, getting to within 6-4 before Catholic went on another run to distance itself from Berry.
Bryan Byers scored a pair of goals and dished out two assists for the Vikings, while Nat Morey and Brandon French each scored a goal and Wes Goldsberry delivered an assist.
"Wes did an outstanding job today," Delfausse said, noting that the freshman from Kennesaw led the team and tied for game-high honors with eight ground balls.
Berry goalie Jordan Boreman recorded 11 saves.
Catholic's Chris Fuccillo led all players with five goals.
Berry returns to action Sunday at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
