Late Surge Lifts Berry Past Huntingdon, 73-63

Berry closed the game with a 20-5 run over the final seven minutes en route to a 73-63 victory over Huntingdon Monday evening in Montgomery, Ala.

The Vikings (13-10) trailed 58-53, before Jonathan Abrams converted a layup to start the game-ending run.  That started an 11-1 Berry run that gave Berry a five-point lead and kickstarted the surge to close out the victory.

Tim Miles led four Berry players in double figures with a game high 21 points.  The senior guard had another hot-shooting night, hitting 6-of-11 shots from the field, including 4-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc.  He also pulled down five rebounds.

Miles' backcourt mates Abrams and Kendall Gadie scored 15 points apiece.  Gadie dished out six assists to lead the Vikings in that category.

David Holloman was the fourth Berry player in double figures, scoring 10 points to go with a game high eight rebounds.

Berry shot 49 percent (23-for-47) from the field in the game, including 50 percent (7-for-14) from three-point range.

Meanwhile, the Vikings defense was clamping down on Huntingdon, holding the home team to just 40 percent (23-for-58) shooting.  The Vikes also outrebounded Huntingdon 38-29.

Huntingdon was led by Ephriam Hudson's 16 points.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Thursday at Truett-McConnell.  The Vikings close the season Feb. 22 at home against Covenant.
