Almulla Nets Career High 24 Points for Berry, But UWG Comes Away With Win

Berry guard Nasser Almulla led all players with a career high 24 points, but host West Georgia defeated the Vikings 91-55 Wednesday in Carrollton, Ga.

The Vikings (0-7) stayed within double digits of the NCAA Division II Wolves (9-1) for most of the game's first 12 minutes, but a 16-2 run over a five-minute stretch late in the opening half gave West Georgia a 23-point advantage, and the Wolves would run away with the win.

Almulla hit 9-of-17 shots from the field, including 6-for-11 shooting from 3-point territory, for the Vikings.  He was joined in double figures by Mac Whalen, who scored seven of his 10 points in the first half.

Lake Graham led Berry with five rebounds and Michael Schulte dished out a team-high five assists.

Gavin Field led four UWG players in double figures with 17 points.  Ryan Godfrey finished with 15 points, Ben Kelly chipped in 14 and Da'Ron Sims added 13 points and a game high seven boards.

The Wolves outrebounded the Vikings 47-20 in the contest, and shot 52 percent (37-for-71) in the game.  Berry hit 40 percent (22-for-55) of its shots.

Berry is scheduled to return to action this Saturday, when it faces the University of Chicago at the Crowne Plaza Christmas Invitational, hosted by Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.
