Ozarks Run Past Vikings, 100-41

Almulla Scores 17 Points to Lead Vikings

Berry's Nasser Almulla scored a team high 16 points, but the University of the Ozarks defeated the Vikings 100-41 Saturday in the Black Tie Tournament, hosted by Birmingham-Southern College.

Ozarks led for all but 31 seconds, scoring the first points of the game 15 seconds into the contest, then relinquishing the advantage to Berry for a 16-second stretch midway through the first half when the Vikings' Cody Marsh scored on a layup to give Berry a 16-15 lead.

But Ozarks closed the opening half with a 23-6 run to take a 16-point lead into the intermission and never looked back.

Ozarks forced Berry into 31 turnovers, then shot a whopping 52.2 percent (36-for-69) from the field to put the game away.  They also hit 52.2 percent (12-for-23) from 3-point range.

Berry, struggled to hit shots, scoring on just 16-of-52 (30.8 percent) attempts from the field.  The Vikings would go to the free throw line just five times, hitting four of them.

Ozarks outrebounded Berry 48-24.

Michael Schulte scored nine points for the Vikings, hitting 4-of-8 shots from the field.  Mac Whalen pulled down seven rebounds to lead Berry in that category.

Ronnie Dodd led four Ozarks players in double figures with a game high 17 points. 

Berry returns to action Sunday at Birmingham-Southern.
