Tim Miles scored 25 points and David Holloman added 22, but Berry was defeated 76-71 by Webster at the Lon Varnell Classic in Sewanee, Tenn., Saturday afternoon.

The first half was close all the way, with the teams trading the lead several times and neither team owning an advantage of more than five points through the first 20 minutes.  The score was deadlocked six times in the first half.

Webster finally took a 36-32 lead into the intermission, and held its lead for the rest of the game. 

Berry scored the first points of the second half on a layup by David Holloman to pull to within two points, but that was as close as the Vikings would get.  Webster would lead by as many as 10 points on two occasions, the second time when Alec Kuhl hit a jumper with 4:53 remaining to make the score 66-56.

Still, the Vikings would make a run, scoring 10 of the next 13 points to pull to within 69-66 on a free throw by Holloman with 43 seconds on the clock. 

After Holloman's successful free throw, Kendall Gadie was forced to foul Webster's Willie Trimble, who buried a pair of charity shots to make the score 71-66.

After Berry called timeout, the Vikings turned the ball over with 22 seconds to go, and then committed another foul to stop the clock and put Trimble back on the line.  Trimble again nailed both free throws to give Webster a comfortable seven-point andput the game out of reach. 

Webster also had two players in double figures, with Trimble leading the way with 21 points. Nick Jones added 20.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Sunday, when it faces host Sewanee at 2 p.m. (Eastern).
