Alesa Hammaker came off the bench to lead three Berry players in double figures with 11 points, but Birmingham-Southern defeated the Lady Vikings 87-58 Sunday at BSC's Bill Battle Coliseum.
Birmingham-Southern opened the game with a 15-4 run and never looked back. The Panthers led by as many as 17 points in the first half before taking a 38-24 lead at halftime.
BSC's lead never fell below double digits in the second half.
Carol Lampley and Erica Crumley joined Hammaker in double figures with 10 points apiece. Berry point guard Holly Compton hauled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
Sam Davidson scored 14 points to lead BSC. She was joined in double figures by Panther teammates Ashton Spurgin, who scored 12 points and tied Compton for game-high honors with 10 boards, Katelyn wilson (11 points), Alex Adams (11 points) and Erin Moore (10 points).
The loss dropped Berry's overall record to 2-5 on the season. The Panthers improved to 5-2.
The Lady Vikings are scheduled to return to action Tuesday at Berea. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
