CHEERLEADERS

2013-14 Tryouts

April 13, 2013, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Cage Center

Berry College cheerleading is currently an all-girl spirit squad supporting ALL Viking athletes.  Our primary game-day focus is on Basketball currently--but with the addition of Football in 2013--we will cheer all home games for football and basketball.

In addition, we make appearances at volleyball, soccer, softball, baseball, track, lacrosse, swim/dive, tennis, and support our golf, equestrian, and cross country teams behind the scenes.

It is our goal to show Viking spirit to all who wear the Blue and White!

If you are interested in becoming a Viking Cheerleader, we would love to hear from you! jbutler@berry.edu Tryouts are in the process of being finalized, but will be held in Spring 2013. This will help the team better prepare through the summer for Football kickoff in the fall.  We are open to becoming a coed squad, dependent upon interest.

Regarding Requirements:

You must be accepted or attending Berry College at the time of tryouts.

At this time, tumbling is expected.  in 2012-2013 we had 1/2 team tumbling, and look to move to a full squad of tumbling for 2013-2014. If you are a talented, experienced cheerleader and tumbling is your only area of concern, please still tryout.

We will begin practice under the assumption that you have stunting experience.  We ask that you provide us with a short video of you stunting.  If you have experience in more than one position, please include each position in your video (example, Show yourself basing the most elite skill, Show yourself back-spotting your most elite skill, if you are a flyer, show yourself flying your most elite skills.  If you have flown on guys and all-girl, feel free to include both) You may send videos in as soon as they are prepared: jbutler@berry.edu

Tryouts will consist of: a short dance, a cheer, a chant, tumbling, jumps (double toe-touch, and pike required)

We ask that you bring an unofficial copy of your transcript.  Academics are priority number one.

Please check back on this page for updates as April approaches.  Email further questions to jbutler@berry.edu
