Mark Bloom
Bloom plays for the Charlotte Eagles of the United Soccer
League. The former Viking finished the season with one goal and
three assists while the Eagles ended with a 10-10-6 record. For the
season Bloom appeared in 23 games, starting the Eagles’ last
five games. During that stretch the Eagles went 1-2-2.
Palmer Karr
Karr plays corner outfield for the Shreveport-Bossier
Captains of the American Association. In his second season with the
Captains, the former Berry letterman is hitting .245 with 16
doubles, 12 home runs, 49 runs batted in and seven stolen bases. In
the Captains’ last two games this week, both against the Gary
South Shore Rail Cats, Karr had three extra base hits, including
two homers.
Shane Moroney
Moroney plays defense and midfield for the Atlanta
Silverbacks of the North American Soccer League. The Silverbacks
lost both of their games in the past week, dropping the
team’s record to 3-15-3 overall. Moroney and his teammates
will be back in action on Aug. 21 against FC Edmonton. Following
that matchup the Silverbacks will have six games left, including
five in the month of September.
Collin McHugh
McHugh is a pitcher for the Binghamton Mets, the Double A
Eastern League affiliate of the New York Mets. The right-handed
hurler has been on fire, winning his last five decisions. This
unbeaten stretch puts his record at 6-2 with a 3.61 earned run
average for Binghamton. For the entire 2011 season, the former
Berry standout has amassed more strikeouts (114) than innings
pitched (108) at two separate levels.
